* Veterans honored at the memorial do not have to be from Downs.
Every man and woman who has served our country deserves to be recognized and remembered.
* If you do not have a specific veteran to honor, you make still purchase a brick in tribute to all who have
served and sacrificed for our freedoms.
* Local businesses are also encouraged to sponsor a brick as
a lasting show of patriotism, gratitude, and community support for our nation's heroes.

Foundation - Kansas and the
Dane G. Hansen Foundation
recently approved grants for
Downs Community Connection
in support of the Downs Veterans Memorial Park project!
With these grants, along with
donations and summer ball-field concession stand and other
fundraising efforts
from our amazing community, we
are now approaching 55% of our
total funding goal!
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this project so
far — every donation, fundraiser, volunteer hour, and word of encouragement is helping
bring this vision to life.

DOWNS VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK
One of the most significant milestones for Downs Community Connection in 2025 was the purchase of the property at 421 Morgan Avenue using DCC’s own funds. This site will become the future home of the Downs Veterans Memorial Park and provide additional parking for Memorial Hall. DCC successfully secured grant funding for demolition, and the existing structures have now been removed clearing the site. Planning and design work for the Veterans Memorial is moving forward as the group continues working diligently to bring this meaningful project to life.
DCC remains committed to strengthening community pride, honoring our veterans, and creating welcoming spaces for residents and visitors alike.
